The Best UAE Credit Cards for Groceries
Groceries are the most predictable line item in the UAE household budget. Whether you shop at Carrefour, Lulu, Spinneys, Waitrose or a mix of all four, you can model your annual grocery spend within a few hundred dirhams. The predictability is exactly why a grocery-focused credit card is one of the highest-conversion-rate optimisations a UAE household can make: every category-capped 5% is basically guaranteed value.
This is the 2026 ranking of the best grocery reward credit cards in the UAE. We have called out specific category caps and merchant restrictions.
What Counts as "Supermarket" on Your Card
Banks categorize merchants using merchant category codes, or MCCs. The four big chains, Carrefour, Lulu, Spinneys, Waitrose, as well as smaller chains such as Choithrams and Géant, would be a typical grocery rewards category. Online grocery (Carrefour Online, Spinneys via Amazon.ae, Lulu Webstore) can sometimes be registered as "online" rather than "supermarket", depending on the merchant integration. Always check the statement for the first month.
Some cards exclude hypermarket spend on non-grocery items, so if you buy a TV at Carrefour, the spend won't earn the elevated category rate. The cap and exclusion logic is card-specific, so check the cashback grid in the welcome pack before you pop the champagne.
Tier 1: Best Dedicated Grocery Cards
Mashreq SmartSaver
The Mashreq SmartSaver pays 5 percent on supermarket transactions with a monthly cap in the range of AED 500 to AED 700 that resets every billing cycle. If you're a family spending AED 4,000 a month at Lulu and Spinneys, you'll hit the cap fast, but you can still get AED 6,000+ in annual cashback by splitting the spending across two billing cycles or stacking with a supplementary card.
ADCB LuLu Platinum / Titanium
ADCB has had an exclusive co-brand with Lulu for many years. LuLu Platinum and Titanium cards offer higher cashback or LuLu reward points on Lulu stores only, which can be redeemed at face value on checkout. For a household whose grocery spend is 80 percent Lulu, nothing else on the market beats this card, as the cashback is pretty much a constant 5 to 8 percent off Lulu prices.
FAB Cashback Credit Card
FAB Cashback's supermarket category has a generous monthly cap, and is in the 3 to 5 percent range. The FAB online cashback structure works well with the card for a household which does both in-store and Carrefour Online.
Tier 2: Premium Grocery-Friendly Cards
Emirates NBD Skywards Infinite
Skywards Infinite earns 1.5 to 2 Skywards Miles per AED spent on supermarkets. Value is 5 fils a mile, so 7.5 to 10 fils per AED, competitive with mid-tier cashback cards. The trade-off is liquidity: miles are only worth it if you redeem them on Emirates flights you would have taken anyway.
CBD Visa Infinite
CBD's flagship offers enhanced points on supermarket transactions that can be redeemed from CBD's rewards catalog. The card integrates grocery rewards under the same banking relationship for CBD primary banking customers.
Tier 3: Niche Supermarket Tie-ins
Spinneys Co-Brand (with Various Banks)
Spinneys has a loyalty scheme (SPAR points / Spinneys rewards depending on the year) that is sometimes combined with bank co-brand offers. For a Spinneys-loyal household, usually expats in Jumeirah, Mirdif and Khalifa City, the stack of bank cashback plus Spinneys loyalty currency can clear 8 percent effective on grocery spend.
Waitrose Stacks
Waitrose is license-operated in the UAE and doesn't have a specific co-brand card, but it does accept most rewards cards and is paired with the ENTERTAINER Premium grocery section. A premium card with ENTERTAINER bundled (ENBD Visa Infinite, Mashreq Solitaire) will get 1 percent base plus ENTERTAINER buy-one-get-one offers at select Waitrose Café locations.
Carrefour MyCLUB + Bank Card Stack
Carrefour's MyCLUB loyalty program gives in-store credits that can be redeemed on future purchases. If you combine MyCLUB with a 5 percent supermarket cashback card, you are netting 6 to 7 percent effective on Carrefour spend without doing anything special.
Tier 4: No-Annual-Fee Picks
Liv. Credit Card
Liv. has run rotating campaigns for Carrefour and Lulu in the Liv. app. Liv. covers the basics for a household that wants grocery rewards without an annual fee, though the base supermarket earn is modest.
RAKBANK Red Mastercard
Supermarkets are often part of the 2 percent RAKBANK Red offers on select categories. When you remove the annual fee, Red is a reasonable second card for a household that does mid-tier grocery volumes.
What to Optimize For
UAE households have the grocery cashback math down to three numbers: monthly spend, category rate, monthly cap. Multiply spend by rate, hit the cap if there is one, multiply by 12, subtract the annual fee. The card that wins on annual net cashback is the right card.
A worked example: a household spends AED 4,000 per month on supermarkets. Card A has no annual fee and 5 percent capped at AED 200 per month, which is AED 200 × 12 = AED 2,400 per year. Card B offers 2 percent uncapped with a fee of AED 300, that is AED 80 × 12 minus AED 300 = AED 660. Even with the lower headline spend, Card A wins by AED 1,740 a year.
Two Mistakes to Avoid
First, don't ignore the cap. A 5 percent supermarket headline with an AED 50 monthly cap is worth AED 600 a year, less than a 1 percent uncapped card on AED 4,000 monthly spend.
Second, don't pay an annual fee for grocery rewards alone. Grocery cashback rarely justifies a AED 500+ fee on its own. If you're paying for a premium card, it should be earning its keep on dining, travel and miles too, groceries are the icing.
How to Pick
If you are a heavy spender on LuLu, then ADCB LuLu Titanium is the default. If it's a Carrefour-heavy spender, Mashreq SmartSaver or FAB Cashback. If you shop mostly at Spinneys or Waitrose, go for Mashreq SmartSaver or a premium card with ENTERTAINER bundled. Mix-and-match households need one supermarket-strong card, and should avoid the second-card trap that splits cashback below the cap on either.
